Lorenzo Pone lives in Salzburg and is one of the most highly acclaimed young pianists today. Universally praised for the distinctive quality of his sound and his formidable perfectionism, he regularly appears as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and with the orchestra at renowned concert halls throughout the world.

In 2019 Lorenzo obtained the Saint John's Smith Square Award in London. This was also the year when he was awarded, for the second time, the prestigious Prize of the Radio-Television of Portugal (RTP). First received in 2013, this distinction would lead to a series of live broadcasts by Radio France, BBC 3, RTP 2, earning him invitations from the New England Conservatory of Boston as well as a concert tour to South America.
"No one nowadays can play such a truly unforgettable Mozart", Harry Saltzman of The New York Times would praise him.

From 2016 on, sustained by his first teacher Francesco Mariani, Lorenzo Pone has been concentrating on his career as a soloist. Performances have included recitals at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Mozart Wohnhaus in Salzburg, the Opera House of Shanghai, the Sydney Opera House and the Accademia della Scala in Milan.
"A new Benedetti Michelangeli!", Natascia Festa commented enthusiastically on the Corriere della Sera.

Lorenzo had already won the 1st Prize at the Rome International Piano Competition in 2011, when he met the legendary pianist Paul Badura-Skoda, who was to become his teacher for almost a decade. In 2014 this great artist introduced Lorenzo to the Viennese audience at the Musikverein as his “artistic heir and spiritual son”. Lorenzo dedicated his mentor a triumphal recital at the Teatro di San Carlo, in his native Naples on October 6th 2019, which would have been Badura Skoda's 92nd birthday.
